As Catholics, we are heir to an intellectual tradition that casts a unique and penetrating light on this religion of 1.5 billion. We can understand Muslims in a way others cannot.

Join Tom Carroll in a discussion of some of the philosophical ideas and historical currents that are shaping Islam and the Middle East today. While Islam undoubtedly presents challenges for Christendom, there are important opportunities, too.

We will touch on the nature of the Shari’a (Islamic law), Islam’s historic tipping point, the tragic break with tradition amongst Islamic radicals, and the ‘Classical Theism’ that Catholics and Muslims share.

Tom Carroll is a former officer in the Clandestine Service of the Central Intelligence Agency. Tom spent years under cover in the Middle East, and is a specialist in Islam and Middle Eastern affairs.
